Blood Wedding is a tragedy by Spanish
dramatist, Federico García Lorca. It was
written in 1932 and first performed at Teatro Beatriz in Madrid in March 1933, then later that year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is one of three plays of Lorca’s “rural tragedies” which include Yerma and The House of Bernarda Alba. The play of Blood Weddingforeshadows the violence that would tear Spain apart, and lead to the tragic death of Lorca himself.
